Chen Xu Meets Vice-Chancellor and President Peter Hoj of the University of Queensland, Australia
On the morning of July 2nd, Prof. Peter Peter Hoj, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Queensland, Australia, visited Tsinghua. Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council Chen Xu met with the guests in Gong Ziting, and exchanged views on further deepening the cooperation between the two universities.

Chen Xu welcomed Prof. Peter Hoj to revisit Tsinghua and noted that the University of Queensland signed the first university-level cooperation agreement with Tsinghua University as early as 1989, and was the first university from Australia to sign a cooperation agreement with Tsinghua. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first signing of the agreement between the two universities. Chen Xu hoped that the two sides would continue to promote high-level and substantive exchanges and cooperation in talent training, scientific and technological research and development, faculty team building, social services, entrepreneurship and innovation, and actively encourage scholars from both sides to carry out research cooperation in multidisciplinary fields, especially in frontier and interdisciplinary fields.

Prof. Peter Hoj briefed the development of Queensland University in recent years, highlighting the university’s achievements in the development and utilization of clean and renewable energy sources such as solar energy, and expressed his wish to carry out in-depth cooperation with Tsinghua in interdisciplinary fields such as the environment and low-carbon development.
