Wu Keyu donates 66 paintings by Wu Guanzhong to Tsinghua
Wu Guanzhong Art Research Fund established
On the morning of July 1st, a ceremony was held at Tsinghua in honor of Wu Keyu's donation of Wu Guanzhong's paintings to Tsinghua University. Mr. Wu Guanzhong's eldest son Wu Keyu and his wife Yu Jing attended the ceremony. Also among those who attended the ceremony were Wu Weishan, a Standing Committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Director of the National Art Museum of China, and the Academician of the French Academy of Fine Arts, Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University, Chen Xu, Chairperson of the Tsinghua University Council, Zhou Hanping, Deputy Director of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Yang Lizhou, the former Director of the National Art Museum of China, An Yuanyuan, Deputy Director of the National Art Museum of China, He Meiying, former Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, Xie Weihe, Vice Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, and Wang Mingzhi, former Vice President of Tsinghua University.

The 66 pieces of Wu Guanzhong's paintings donated by Mr. Wu Keyu will be collected by the Tsinghua University Art Museum.

President Qiu Yong stated that Mr. Wu Guanzhong is an outstanding master of art, art educator and an important representative figure in the development of Chinese contemporary art. For the university, the significance of its great masters lies not only in their academic achievements that advance human civilization, but also in their noble characters influencing the human mind.
Qiu Yong pointed out that art is a splendid wealth for human wisdom and thought, which embodies the culture of the nation and the efforts of the artist. Tsinghua University has long been committed to promoting the collection of Wu Guanzhong's artwork, and the research and promotion of his artistic theories and aesthetic thought. Aesthetic education has a unique role in cultivating the all-round development of character. In the process of guiding students to the pursuit of beauty, we should let students know how to appreciate beauty, and then cultivate their aesthetic taste.
Facing the future, Tsinghua University will carry forward Mr. Wu Guanzhong’s great love and art, continue to promote the innovation and development of art disciplines and aesthetic education, , and strive to build the art discipline of Tsinghua University into a world art education, making new and greater contributions to the opening up of Chinese art to the world and the inheritance and innovation of human art.








Tsinghua University Education Foundation will set up the “Wu Guanzhong Art Research Fund” to support the research on Wu Guanzhong’s art and artistic thoughts.

On the occasion of commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Wu Guanzhong, Tsinghua University will hold activities such as “Aesthetic Life--Wu Guanzhong’s 100th Birthday Art Exhibition” and “Aesthetic Life--International Symposium and Wu Guanzhong’s 100th Birthday Commemoration” in November this year. Tsinghua will also release Wu Guanzhong’s art research database to share Mr. Wu Guanzhong’s art treasures with society through an open research platform.
