Professor Timothy Charles Green appointed as distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University
On June 23rd, the distinguished Visiting Professor appointment ceremony for Professor Timothy Charles Green, Fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, was held in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Professor Kang Chongqing, Chairman of the executive committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering, awarded Professor Green a certificate of appointment as distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University. More than 50 teachers and students, including Professor Xiao Xi, Vice Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Professor Sun Hongbin attended the appointment ceremony.

After the appointment ceremony, Professor Xiao Xi chaired a lecture entitled “Control and Power Electronics for Distribution Networks” by Professor Timothy Green. In his lecture, Professor Timothy Green introduced in detail the latest research progress on power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy conducted in various directions, including power planning, operation control, big data and power electronics technology, by the Energy Futures Lab of Imperial College London. He highlighted important achievements such as the "Soft-open Point", and explained the important concepts including power electronics technology and the deep integration of power systems to support the operation of the distribution network.

After the lecture, teachers and students of the Department of Electrical Engineering had in-depth discussions with Professor Timothy Green. Professor Green stated that the Energy Futures Lab of Imperial College London would strengthen its cooperation with the Department of Electrical Engineering in academic exchanges, scientific research project cooperation and the joint cultivation of students.
