Tsinghua Vice President Yang Bin leads a delegation to Germany to promote educational cooperation between China and Germany
From May 3rd to 8th, Tsinghua University Vice President and Provost Yang Bin led a delegation to visit Germany. Visits were made to RWTH Aachen University, Leibniz University Hannover, the Technical University of Munich and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and university-level cooperation agreements were signed to further promote exchanges and cooperation between Tsinghua University and institutions of higher education in Germany.
During his visit to RWTH Aachen University, Yang Bin held talks with Rector Ulrich Rüdiger and Vice Rector for Industry and Business Relations Malte Brettel. During the talk, Yang Bin said that since the early 1980s, Tsinghua University and RWTH Aachen University had begun to cooperate and exchange. Over a long period of time, the two universities have actively built a strategic partnership, and have achieved remarkable results in many fields including faculty and student exchange, research collaboration, and the establishment of joint laboratories. The double master degree program jointly organized by the two universities is the first double degree program of Tsinghua University, which more than 800 students from the two universities have participated in since 2001. It is a successful example of cooperation between the universities of China and Germany. Yang Bin said that Tsinghua University is looking forward to expanding substantive cooperation with RWTH Aachen University in more fields. He hoped that more disciplines of the two universities would participate in the double degree program and actively explore cooperation in the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School. Rüdiger said that Tsinghua University is an important partner of RWTH Aachen University. Numerous cooperation programs between the two universities have promoted exchanges and interactions between the two universities and have achieved remarkable results. He hoped that in the future, the two universities would have deeper cooperation in promoting the joint training of students and scientific research cooperation at a new level.

After the talks, Yang Bin and Rüdiger renewed the framework agreement for the double degree program of the two universities.
At Leibniz University Hannover, the first Tsinghua Day was held on the same day. Yang Bin and He Kebin, Dean of School of Environment, Tsinghua University, led 14 teachers and students of Tsinghua University in taking part in the event. 30 teacher and student representatives of Leibniz University Hannover, including President Volker Epping and Vice President Christina von Haaren, also participated in the event.

Before the event began, Yang Bin met with President Professor Epping and Vice President Haaren, and exchanged views on how to further promote cooperation between the two universities. On behalf of Leibniz University Hannover, President Epping welcomed the delegation of Tsinghua University and looked forward to further cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. In his speech, Yang Bin said that the "Tsinghua Day" event is very conducive to promoting fruitful discussions between scholars of the two universities, and hoped that there would be more cooperative projects in the future.
On the following day, the “Tsinghua Day” continued to be held in the city hall of Hannover. The Mayor of Hannover Thomas Hermann attended the event and delivered a speech. Experts and scholars had in-depth exchanges and discussions on air pollution and water treatment in the global environmental field.

At the Technical University of Munich, Yang Bin had a meeting with Senior Vice President Professor Juliane Winkelmann. He said that the two universities had a good long-term basis for cooperation. There were frequent visits between teachers and students, and remarkable results had been achieved through cooperation in scientific research and summer programs. It was hoped that the two universities would further expand their areas of cooperation and carry out more cooperative programs in the headquarters of Tsinghua University and the newly established Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School in the future. Winkelmann introduced recent developments and important international cooperation measures of the Technical University of Munich, and said that the Technical University of Munich was looking forward to strengthening its cooperation with Tsinghua University to further promote faculty and student exchanges and research collaboration.
Yang Bin and Winkelmann renewed the university-level student exchange agreement after the meeting.

During his visit to Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Yang Bin held a discussion with the Vice President for International Affairs Hans van Ess. Yang Bin introduced the recent development of Tsinghua University and the achievements in implementing its global strategy. He said that Tsinghua University attached great importance to cooperation with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Last year, the two universities signed a new cooperation agreement. He hoped that the two universities would further promote and implement cooperation in student exchanges and double degree programs, and consolidate the foundation of cooperation between the two universities. Vice President van Ess introduced the cooperation between the two universities since the signing of the cooperation agreement, and said that Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich was looking forward to continuing to strengthen the cooperation between the two universities, further expand the areas of cooperation and explore new ways of cooperation.

During his visit to Germany, Yang Bin attended the 108th anniversary celebration of Tsinghua University held by the German Tsinghua Alumni Association, and delivered a speech. He also held talks with alumni representatives after the event and visited the Huawei European Research Center in Munich.
