President Koen Lamberts of the University of Sheffield visits Tsinghua University
On February 28th, Professor Koen Lamberts, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield in the UK, visited Tsinghua University. Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University Yang Bin met with the guests at Gongziting. The two sides exchanged views on promoting cooperation between the two universities and signed a MOU.
Yang Bin welcomed Professor Lamberts and his delegation’s visit and introduced the recent developments in interdisciplinary research of Tsinghua University and the achievements in the implementation of the global strategy. Yang Bin noted that Tsinghua University hopes to establish more excellent academic partnerships worldwide. This was the first time the two universities have signed a university-level cooperation agreement. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to promote cooperation in student and scholar exchange, cooperative research and joint training.
Professor Lamberts noted that the University of Sheffield shares a similar concept of globalization with Tsinghua University. The University of Sheffield hopes to further strengthen cooperation with Tsinghua University, and leverage the disciplinary advantages of the two universities in efforts to jointly promote research and the solution to global issues.
Following the talks, Yang Bin and Professor Lamberts signed a MOU between the two universities.
After the meeting, Professor Lamberts and his delegation visited the Future Laboratory of Tsinghua University.
