Daniel Kammen visits Tsinghua to talk clean energy
On April 9th, Daniel Kammen, Professor in the Energy and Resources Group, and the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley, visited the School of Environment at Tsinghua University. Kammen delivered a talk on the China-US cooperation in clean energy and climate change.
Daniel Kammen, having served as a contributing or coordinating lead author on various reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, recognized China as a world leader in renewable technology development and deployment.
Kammen also said that the US companies will continue to adopt renewables in spite of certain policies as reduced costs make them more economical for businesses than fossil fuels.
Kammen highlighted the importance of using a Life Cycle Assessment approach to understand the impacts of the production of raw materials used in renewable technologies. He further introduced the latest achievements of his lab in the research on sustainable development and the technologies and the applications related to clean energy.
