A signing ceremony to mark the launch of the Tsinghua-Intel Joint Research Institute was held in the main building on October 14.
Tsinghua Vice President Kang Kejun and Mr. Pat Gelsinger, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Intel Corporation, attended the afternoon event and gave brief overviews of Tsinghua and Intel.
The two leaders agreed that research collaboration between the university and the company, which began in the early 1990s, should be broadened.
Work at the Joint Research Institute will focus on exploration of potentially disruptive technologies related to advanced system management, statistical based workloads, and compiler technologies for next generation parallel computing architecture.
