?Tsinghua University Southeast Asia High School Principals’ Forum held

The 2025 Tsinghua University Southeast Asia High School Principals' Forum was recently held in Singapore. Educational administrators from 30 well-known high schools in Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Indonesia, engaged in in-depth dialogues with Tsinghua's educational expert team. They focused on core issues such as the cultivation of top-tier innovative talents and the alignment between high school and university education, conducting thorough discussions to jointly sketch a new blueprint for international educational cooperation.

In the morning session, the forum focused on Tsinghua University's innovative practices and cutting-edge educational philosophies. During the highly anticipated keynote speech on global educational innovation paradigms, Professor Peng Gang, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, systematically expounded on the cutting-edge concepts and practical achievements of undergraduate education at Tsinghua University. He provided a comprehensive analysis, covering aspects from curriculum system reconstruction to comprehensive quality cultivation, showcasing the innovative DNA of Tsinghua's education. Professor Wang Xiumei, Director of the Management Center for Colleges, offered a detailed interpretation of the college-based training model. Through distinctive mechanisms such as tutorial systems and community-based education, she unveiled innovative pathways for personalized talent cultivation.

Wang Shuaiguo, Director of the Tsinghua University Online Education Center and Secretary-General of the Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance, delved into the latest trends in AI education, demonstrating innovative practices in reshaping teaching scenarios through intelligent technologies with vivid cases. Qiu Yun, Senior International Admissions Officer at the Admissions Office, introduced the undergraduate admission policies for international students, providing guidance for Southeast Asian high schools on the application process. Technology empowerment and educational innovation emerged as the central focuses of the morning agenda.

In the afternoon session, the forum shifted to the sharing of educational practices in Southeast Asia, where five renowned Southeast Asian high schools showcased their unique talent cultivation models. Dunman High School from Singapore analyzed its innovative talent cultivation system from the dual dimensions of "teaching cases and management models." Tzu Chi School from Indonesia shared its experiences in curriculum reform and faculty development, emphasizing personalized development pathways. Singapore (Cambodia) International Academy approached the topic from a management perspective, proposing innovative solutions for environmental creation and evaluation systems. Foon Yew High School from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, demonstrated its educational characteristics of cultural heritage and multicultural integration. Furen International School from Singapore introduced its achievements in curriculum reform and achievements in internationalized education. These cases provided diversified practical samples for regional educational cooperation.

During the collaborative innovation discussion and keynote speech session, Professor Zhang Li, Dean of Tsinghua Zijing College, proposed a "Global Education Collaborative Innovation" framework, stressing the need to break geographical boundaries for the reconstruction of future talent capabilities. Professor Liu Jianguo, Associate Dean of Tsinghua Xiuzhong College, approached the topic from the perspective of sustainable development, calling for the deep integration of green concepts into the educational system. The consensus emerged that education should shoulder more social responsibilities.

This forum deepened the vision for cooperation and served as a crucial link in promoting cross-regional educational collaboration. Professor Peng Gang, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, along with several deans and professors from Tsinghua's academies, gathered with renowned high school principals from Southeast Asian countries to share insights on talent cultivation philosophies, discuss talent cultivation models, and explore trends in talent cultivation. Participants unanimously expressed that this forum provided a vital platform for cross-regional educational dialogues. The forum enhanced their understanding of educational models in different countries and regions. In addition, it supported jointly addressing the opportunities and challenges in the era of educational globalization and cultivating top-tier innovative talents with global competitiveness and a sense of social responsibility.
